Quails symbolize a range of meanings, often representing courage, harmony, loyalty, and devotion. Because they are a ground-dwelling bird, the Quail symbolizes the importance of staying grounded and connected to the earth, reminding us to keep a practical and down-to-earth perspective. They are also a harbinger of spring. And as the state bird of California, I just love watching these cuties amble through my yard from bush to bush!
This lovely rectangle platter is fashioned in my wood-cut sgraffito technique and hand-painted in wine colored glaze, 6 quails are featured with 2 oak leaves at the sides. The quail platter makes a wonderful serving dish or a special gift for a friend.
