Quails symbolize a range of meanings, often representing courage, harmony, loyalty, and devotion. Because they are a ground-dwelling bird, the Quail symbolizes the importance of staying grounded and connected to the earth, reminding us to keep a practical and down-to-earth perspective. They are also a harbinger of spring. And as the state bird of California, I just love watching these cuties amble through my yard from bush to bush!
The bright orange poppies are the state flower of California. In the spring one can see them blooming all over the state, especially in our wildflower "superbloom" in mid-spring.
My Quail pitcher is hand-built and painted in bright turquoise and the oranges of the California poppy. The main part is hand-carved sgraffito in wood-cut fashion.This pitcher is functional and holds water, juice or your choice of beverage. All my glazes are non-toxic and food safe and fired to approximately 2000 degrees.
